How frequently have I, with great difficulty, persuaded patients who were never off my doorstep to take up golf and how rarely, if ever, have I seen them in my consulting rooms again!” Dr. Alister Mackenzie

A message from our Ladies Captain, Sylvia Huggair

Hello and welcome to the Ladies section of the Willingdon website.

I have been playing for the past 15 years, as a member of Willingdon, and was happy to stand as Captain again (previously in 2009/10) as there was no one ready to take on the responsibility of being Captain for 2018.

As a section, the Ladies play on Tuesdays, our Ladies Day, and on Sundays for Business Ladies. We are very keen to encourage new members, whether a complete beginner, those who play but do not have a handicap, and those who want to try a new Club. We have a great professional, Dan Gale, who can help ladies new to golf and we have many membership options available, so it is a great time to get into golf. (Photo courtesy of Andy Butler Photography -

Willingdon Ladies have produced a Welcome leaflet for new members that can be accessed by clicking here. It contains information on how the Ladies section is set up and is run.

We have approximately 70 lady members playing regularly and we play in four Divisions of the Sussex County Ladies Golf Association, playing other clubs throughout the County. We also have a number of ladies who play in friendly matches against local clubs.

We have a great social calendar too. We play friendly mixed matches against local clubs and have regular mixed Golf and Supper evenings throughout the summer months. Whether you have a golfing partner or not, all are welcome to come along and play.

I personally look forward to playing with as many members as I can during my year as Captain and hope you all have an enjoyable and successful golfing year in 2018.
