A message from our Seniors Captain, John Court
I am very honoured and proud to be serving as Captain of Willingdon Golf Club Seniors section for the forthcoming year to October 2019. This section continues to grow from strength to strength with golfers who are 55 years young and over and I am very fortunate to be supported by a very competent and active Seniors Committee.
We offer a very full and varied calendar of events including regular competitions (usually on a Thursday morning) and matches against a large number of clubs in Sussex and Kent (please see Seniors Diary below). We also run a very successful Team Open, Seniors Invitation Day and organise a Seniors Away Day each year. This year we will also introduce a Seniors ‘Pro challenge’, ‘Greenkeeper Day’ and ‘Beat the Captain events’.
Each month, there is an optional Seniors lunch following a competition and there are social events organised by the Seniors section which are open to all Club members and guests.
There are also competitions and matches with and against our Ladies Section which are well supported and highly enjoyable.
Here at Willingdon we are blessed with a highly competent team of staff who support us every day. The course condition is superb and brilliantly maintained by our outstanding Greens staff. Our new pro shop, well stocked and run by our very knowledgeable and personable professional Dan Gale, is there to support our coaching and golfing product needs. Our caterers are second to none offering us all such beautiful food and well supported by our friendly bar staff.
What more could we want? Many clubs (but, surprisingly, not all) have a Seniors Section but in my experience you will not find a better run, well supported, friendly section which exists to organise all that our Seniors do on an annual basis. If you have not yet joined the ranks of the over 55’s, have not experienced the competitive side of our Seniors Section or you are thinking of joining our Club please be assured that you will be given the warmest of welcomes by the Seniors Section of Willingdon Golf Club.
My nominated charity for this year is The Willow Unit of The Trevor Mann Baby Unit in Brighton. This important unit is to develop and support parents at the time of and immediately after still-birth.
I look forward to playing with as many Willingdon Seniors as possible over the coming year and also to welcome new members to the section and to the club.
If you are not already a member of Willingdon and you are interested in joining, contact our General Manager, Paul Tiday, on 01323 410981, or you can email him at email@example.com.
