Welcome to Willingdon Golf Club

How frequently have I, with great difficulty, persuaded patients who were never off my doorstep to take up golf and how rarely, if ever, have I seen them in my consulting rooms again!” Dr. Alister MacKenzie

A message from our Club Captain, John Maynard

I would like to thank the members of Willingdon Golf club for appointing me as their Club Captain for 2017 .I feel it is an honour and a privilege and, as such, I will do my best to uphold the club’s traditions and the excellent reputation built up over the years. I will be pleased to hear from any members who wish to contact me over the coming year with any questions or thoughts regarding the club. I also look forward to meeting visitors to our club.

The course is probably in the best condition it has been for years, thanks to the hard work undertaken by Luke and his Team. Let us all assist the green keepers in protecting the course with good practices. Willingdon is a course to be proud of and this is borne out by the numbers of visitors who return each year to face the tough, but fair, challenge that we provide.

Our Catering has gone from strength to strength and its reputation has grown, not only with the members but also with the general public. My thanks to Rachael, Steve and their Team and, of course, to Dave and all the Bar staff who make everyone feel welcome.

I will endeavour to make myself available to one and all throughout the club this year and play with as many of the members as possible in the various sections that comprise the club.

I do believe Charity starts at home and, as such, my Captains Charity will be the Golf Club. Monies raised throughout the year will go towards the continued up-keep and improvements to the course / clubhouse.

Finally, I wish you all the very best and excellent Golf in 2017.

Whether a golfer or not, a very warm welcome awaits you at the friendliest golf club in the South of England. From the elevated Clubhouse bar and terrace, both non-golfers and golfers alike will appreciate the magnificent view of our stunning downland course, which was re-designed nearly 100 years ago by the legendary architect of Augusta Golf Club , Dr Alister MacKenzie. The course rests in a bowl at the foot of the South Downs, so not only is it protected from the harshest of weathers but also tends to be open all year round due to its amazing drainage.

Golfers wishing to join can choose from a wide range of very attractive flexible membership options or, if only able to play occasionally, take advantage of our special offers which can be found on this website. Please select Membership from the Menu for more details.

For those wanting to learn our great game or interested in honing their golfing skills, our professional, Dan Gale, has a well deserved reputation for coaching new and experienced golfers of all abilities. Dan has a range of lesson packages to suit all pockets and he also runs group clinics during the year for juniors, ladies and seniors. Please select Professional from the Menu for more details.

As well as the stunning upstairs bar with great views across the course, the club boasts a ground floor restaurant that is a wonderful venue for all types of function, including wedding receptions, parties, conferences and meetings. Please select Clubhouse from the Menu for more details.
